I just joined this web site and here is what I'm looking for. I am a 59 year old grandmother who is a dwarf and helping my son raise Kevin who has down syndrome, he's 4 1/2 now. Kevin has become a wonderer, and it is extremely hard, really impossible for me to catch him if he gets out. We've put in door and window alarms. However, we live in the country on a state road this is very dangerous. I need my property fenced in. We live just a few feet from a pond as well. Kevin has broken out a screen and jumped out of the window but before I could get to him he was gone. Luckily his dad was coming across the next door lot and grabbed him. I've heard of grants for assistance like this, but would love some information on what to do next.

I am the grandmother of a 4 1/2 year old boy, Kevin, who has Down Syndrome. He lives with my husband and I, as his dad, my son, also. Kevin's mother went back to her home state of Washington shortly after Kevin's birth because she could not handle Kevin having Down Syndrome. I as well as my husband are little people, Kevin is almost my size now. I am beginning to have difficulty handling him, he wanders, his dad works during the day. I heard about this site from the Indiana Down Syndrome Foundation and thought I would give it a try. I'm anxious to see about some resources that I might be able to look into, now and in the future.
